Diagnosis: Neuroblastoma
This is Quintin (Quinn) Danielson. He was diagnosed with high risk Neuroblastoma January 22, 2024. Our family all had some rough viruses through the holidays, so we didn’t think much of his symptoms at first. Then one day he didn’t want to walk and was limping a little. The Dr thought it was because the virus settled in his hip, which is actually more common than cancer so that checked out. We did X-rays and bloodwork and nothing showed up alarming. Then he fevered for 5 days and his walking was getting more painful. Surprisingly his pain was easily masked with ibuprofen and he was running around fine until the ibuprofen would wear off. We took him to the ER on day 5 of fevering and were sent home thinking it was a virus. 2 days later his fever spiked higher and he couldn’t stand without pain. We went to the ER at primaries in SLC and after about 10 hours they sent us to the oncology floor late that night. He has been through 5 rounds of chemo, surgery, 2 bone marrow transplants, radiation, and immunotherapy. He has significant hearing loss from chemo which has been a difficult thing to navigate. As far as everything else he is doing great right now! We get to go on his Make-a-Wish trip next week!
Thank you for all you do for cancer families! We loved the Nixon Strong tournament last summer and the movie we went to. You are inspiring! 🫶🏻
