Child’s Story
Mylah Jensen
Diagnosis: Medulloblastoma
Mylah is my fourth child born October 2023. When she was born she didn’t cry she just looked around and took in her new world, very calm up until January 10th at 2 months old she woke up one morning just screaming. Her doctor and I both thought ear infections just like her brothers would get. But she kept getting worse not sleeping or holding anything down her tongue reflexively shifted she couldn’t nurse or keep a bottle in her mouth, so I took mylah to urgent care where she started to turn blue multiple times from throwing up so hard she couldn’t get a breathe in, but we were sent home, next day we went up to primary children’s ER said reflux after x-ray, blood work and swallow study and then just sent us home after telling me she had very odd blood work results.
After more antibiotics and antibiotic shots, we Finally on January 17th were sent in for ultrasound on her head and found a very large tumor, diagnosed as medulloblastoma rare unknown sub-type causing even more uncertainty for her. Everything moved fast from there with many complications along the way and still some lasting side effects from not only chemo but surgery itself. We have learned Mylah has all the say, if doctors say something isn’t going to happen she will show them it can. Doctors and nurses learned that you can never rule anything out with this girl yet there are always surprised keeping everyone on their toes in good and a few not so good ways. Through this whole journey she has been so calm and smiley just an overall easy temperament baby who knows the hospital ways and routines.
