Diagnosis: B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia

Emery was your typical four year old. She loved dancing, reading, playing games, and watching movies. In September 2023, we started noticing that things were a little off. Her skin tone started to get more and more pale and she started having a little less energy. In just a couple weeks, she went from playing an entire soccer game to asking her coach to sit out before the game even started.

After some family members mentioned her color change, we decided we needed to see her doctor. We thought the doctor would say, “take this medicine and she will be back to normal.” Instead, they sent us to do a full set of blood work. I called the doctors office after the results came back and they said we needed to get her up to Primary Children’s ER as soon as possible and that she needed a blood transfusion. We were completely shocked.

In the hospital Emery received lab after lab, test after test. Two days later, the doctor said the dreaded words, “Your child has cancer.” Those words shattered our world.

Through it all, Emery has been such a champ! It hasn’t been easy but she is doing her best to fight! Her fight will continue until December 2025 when she will finally be able to ring the bell!
